It was a superb knock by Fakhar Zaman on his Test debut. He walked with the pressure nerves in the morning, but soon, the conditions asked him to bat with the Lion-heart. The stylish southpaw accepted the challenge and delivered the goods to lift the team from the further embarrassment against Australia.

Initially, it was Pakistan, who won the toss and asked Australia to roll their arms. They got the blistering start with Nathan Lyon bagging four wickets in the span off six deliveries.

Fakhar Zaman scored 94 on his debut:

All of a sudden, the scorecard read 57/5. Initially, Australia got the wicket of Mohammed Hafeez fortunately when Labushagne holds on to a stunner at short-leg off Mitchell Starc’s delivery.

However, Azhar Ali and Fakhar Zaman tried to balance the ship with their solid defence off the fast bowling. Then, the impact of Nathan Lyon made its way to dent Pakistan dearly.

Just when things looked pretty bad for the hosts, the captain Sarfraz Ahmed took the onus on himself to score a scintillating knock alongside Fakhar Zaman, who dealt the Australian bowlers with sheer grit.

Fakhar Zaman, in particular, kept the things tight by holding one of the creases. He also made Australians chase the leather more often than not to bring his maiden century on his debut.

With the captain support on the other, one would have expected that Fakhar Zanan would gear on to something special on his debut. But, then, came the delivery from Labuschagne that trapped the southpaw in front of the wicket.

If Fakhar Zaman had seen one more over, it would have been the tea break on day one as well. However, at the end of the day, he walked backed with a bitter-sweet memory.
