Pakistan skipper Babar Azam has added yet another feather to his cap thanks to his fighting fifty during the sixth Pakistan vs England T20I. The right-handed batsman has equaled Virat Kohli’s record of fastest to 3000 runs in T20Is.

Before Babar, only four batters – Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Martin Guptill and Paul Stirling – had managed to touch the 3,000 run mark in the shortest format of the game. Babar is now the fifth member in the elusive club as he played yet another fine knock for his country.

Babar Azam equals Virat Kohli’s record:

Babar Azam has not only joined the 3000-run club in T20Is but has also become the joint fastest to do so. He has achieved the milestone in 81 innings, the same number of innings that Kohli needed for the milestone. Babar needed to score 52 runs in the 6th T20I against England to achieve the feat and he did it in style.

Apart from Babar and Kohli, no other player has managed to touch the 3,000-run mark in T20Is in less than 100 games. The second fastest in the list is New Zealand star Guptill who did it in 101 innings. Babar is now also the fourth highest run-scorer in T20Is, a remarkable feat for a player who made his debut in 2016.

Talking about the match, Babar played an unbeaten knock of 87 to help his side recover from a poor start and post a competitive total of 169 for 6. Pakistan are leading the 7-match series by 3-2 and a win in the ongoing game will see them seal the series.
