Pakistan’s Zaheer Abbas Maintains Virat Kohli is Already a ‘Legend’ of the Game
After former Pakistan skipper Misbah-Ul-Haq lauds Virat Kohli’s efforts, yet another legendary batsman Zaheer Abbas, who ruled the international cricket with his eye-catching strokes, is in awe of Kohli.
Abbas is the latest admirer of Kohli for his batting prowess and brilliance on the field.
The classy batsman holds a unique statistics to his name, perhaps, only few would have aware of it. Abbas is the first Asian batsman to amass hundred centuries in the First-class cricket.
I have seen a lot of great Indian players, and Virat Kohli right up there: Zaheer Abbas
While showering his praises on India’s run-machine, Abbas reiterated that he has played and watched many Indian cricketers ruling the roost. He feels Kohli right in the same league.
Abbas went on to say adding that he won’t like to compare the generations as each phase has its demands. However, he felt that the Indian skipper is as good as anyone in the contemporary cricket. Meanwhile, he is disappointed with the weather in London.
“I was about to get out and come to the ground. But you know how this London weather is,” TOI quoted Abbas as saying.
“I have seen a lot of great Indian players and he is right up there. And I don’t like comparing generations, because each era has its own demands, but Kohli is as good as anybody else. For me, a legend is one who dominates his own generation and Kohli is doing that with a degree of ease. That makes him already a legend,” Zaheer said.
His feet movement is extremely satisfying: Zaheer Abbas
The Pakistan legendary player Zahir Abbas went on to say that the feet movement of Virat Kohli has been rock solid. Adding yet another praise, Abbas is bowled over to Kohli’s fearlessness during his batting.
“Kohli plays with a lot of authority on both sides of the wicket, giving you the impression that he is a class player. His feet movement is extremely assured. And there’s an element of fearlessness in his game which I really admire. Virat showed that he can be good in English conditions and I am expecting good things from him,” Zaheer said.
However, Kohli is attaining greater heights with each passing game. The only black spot in his career was in England during 2014 tour which he has repaired efficiently in the recently-concluded first Test at Edgbaston. Elegant Kohli notched his maiden hundred on English soil before returning with 51 in the second innings.
