Jammu & Kashmir Ranji Trophy team skipper and only International cricketer from the state, Parvez Rasool will receive the BCCI’s Lala Amarnath Award – honouring the best all-rounder in the Ranji Trophy at the BCCI Awards function.

Meanwhile, the awards ceremony will take place on June 12 at Bengaluru. Rasool, over the years, has been consistently performing in the domestic circuit.

In 65 first-class matches so far, he has scored 3670 runs at an average of 37.83. Further, he has backed it up with 189 wickets, the best-ever from Kashmir.

Rasool had also represented India in the white ball cricket playing one ODIs and one T20Is each.

He made his ODI debut against Bangladesh in 2014, however, failed to make a mark. Three years later, he made his shortest format debut against England, however, struggled to cement his place. Parvez has been around the national team for quite a few years now but didn’t make it regularly.

However, Parvez has a rich domestic statistics which speaks a lot about his ability coming from disputed land. Growing up, he didn’t have enough opportunities due to the prevailing political tension in that state. Among all the odds, he has done a tremendous job and is an inspiring figure in the history of Kashmir’s cricket.

India captain Virat Kohli’s phenomenal batting form has fetched him the BCCI’s best cricketer award for two seasons, while World Cup stars Harmanpreet Kaur and Smriti Mandhana were chosen for the women’s equivalent of the honour, the Board announced.
