Kolkata Knight Riders’ seamer Pat Cummins was on fire against the Rajasthan Royals in Dubai as he picked up four wickets to blow away the opposition’s top-order. Pat Cummins picked up four crucial wickets as Rajasthan Royals could not withstand the pressure in pursuit of 192. The 26-year old bounced back despite the first few balls going for plenty of runs.

After being put to bat first, Kolkata Knight Riders did not have an ideal start as Nitish Rana perished for a duck. However, the likes of Shubman Gill and Rahul Tripathi played aggressively to keep the run rate up. Nevertheless, Rajasthan Royals struck back with four quick wickets; however, Eoin Morgan’s power-hitting was too much for the Royals. He finished unbeaten at 68, lifting his side to 191 in 20 overs.

Rajasthan Royals had an ideal start as Ben Stokes and Robin Uthappa went after the bowlers straight away. However, Pat Cummins kept his cool and plucked four wickets, ripping through their top-order. Cummins also struck some quick-fire runs earlier, giving company to Eoin Morgan. Jos Buttler and Rahul Tewatia had too much to do against a top-notch bowling attack as the Knight Riders’ bowlers finished things off, winning by 60 runs and jumping to the 4th spot in the IPL 2020 points table.

Pat Cummins revealed that he felt nervous after conceding 19 runs off five balls; however, kept his calm to bowl the best delivery. The New South Wales speedster was glad that everything fell in place today and underlined putting plenty of pressure on himself for not bowling well earlier in the competition. Cummins stated that as the tournament progressed, he has only got better and that there are plenty of other bowlers to learn from.

A bit goes through your mind when you go for 19 off the first five balls. I guess the first two balls were not great, but as long as you go back to bowling your best ball it is okay. The best ball was top of off, maybe just outside off. There was a bit in the wicket. In T20, you can bowl well and got for a plenty. On other days, wickets can come when you are not at your best. Fortunately today everything falls in place. Earlier I put a lot of pressure on myself after that first game when I didn’t bowl well. The longer the tournament has gone I have bowled better and better. The great thing about IPL is there are so many other games on and so many great bowlers on display so there is a lot to learn from,” Pat Cummins told in the post-match presentation.
