Initially, Piyush Chawla was part of Kings XI Punjab after which he moved to Kolkata Knight Riders. The leg-spinner played an integral role with the bat in the 2014 IPL final that helped Kolkata to provide the finishing touches. With the ball, Piyush has snapped 157 wickets in 150 fixtures at a reasonable average of 27.15 with figures of 4/17.

Chawla stated that the conversation took place before IPL 2020 during their camp when he asked the captain about the decision to rope him for Chennai.
“We were having a camp in Chennai just before the IPL was supposed to start. So, I had a discussion with him regarding cricket, and that was like I asked him about the decision of me getting into CSK, and he told me that obviously it was my decision to take you to CSK,” the 31-year-old stated.
I don’t know if he will play again or not: Piyush Chawla
One of the most burning questions for a long while has been whether the fans will ever see MS Dhoni in national colours again. Perhaps, the 10th of July 2020 marked one year from the date when the former Indian captain last featured for India.
It was the 2019 World Cup semi-final against New Zealand where he scored a fighting 50 before a run-out sent him back while also dashing India’s hopes of making it to the final. When asked Piyush himself, he stated that he has no idea about the keeper-batsman’s international future.
“Well, that’s totally out of context for me because I don’t know if he will play again or not,” he added.
While the 2020 IPL was a massive gateway for him to make an international comeback, it remains uncertain when the tournament will take place. The unpredictable circumstances of the nation due to the COVID-19 crisis means that the competition will likely get staged outside India.
