New Zealand’s top cricketers are scheduled to return to training this week at the country’s High-Performance Centre at Lincoln following an extended break due to COVID-19 pandemic. The nation’s top-notch male and female cricketers would resume their drills at New Zealand Cricket’s High-Performance Centre. The association told in a statement that six national camps would take place for the coming winter months.

New Zealand men’s and Australia men’s cricket team were the last ones to partake in an international game back in March before it resumed last week. The Trans-Tasman rivals square off in a One-day International in Sydney where the hosts scored a massive win off 70 runs. Before that, Kane Williamson’s men beat India in Tests and ODIs while losing the T20Is at home.

Apart from announcing their return to training, the statement from the apex body of New Zealand cricket said that both male and female players will train at Canterbury this week. On the other hand, a larger group of players will commence at Mount Maunganui from the 19th of July.

The official Twitter handle posted pictures of the same while posting a caption as “We are back! Our 1st post lockdown camp is underway in Lincoln. Players from @cricketwgtn, @CanterburyCrick and @OtagoVolts are attending the first camp with @aucklandcricket, @ndcricket and @CDCricket players getting set for a camp next week at @BayOvalOfficial #CricketNation,”

New Zealand amongst the least affected nation due to COVID-19:

While countries like the United States, Brazil, United Kingdom, and India struggle to control the explosion of the pandemic, New Zealand has responded to it quite well. Their case count is approximately 1500 while the recoveries amount to 1400.
