SA vs IND 2018: Day Three Play Called Off Due to Persistent Rain

The third day of the first Test between South Africa and India has been called off due to persistent rain at the Newlands in Cape Town. The match is evenly poised at the moment with both the South African openers sent to the pavilion late on day two by Hardik Pandya. However, the hosts lead the tourists by 142 runs with their score at 65/2.

The day was called off without a single ball being bowled as scattered showers throughout the day kept the players off the field. Despite, the groundsmen being confident about the play on day three, the officials called it stumps two and a half hours before the official call off time.

South African bowlers put India on the back on the second day of the first Test at Newlands in Cape Town as the African fast bowlers dominated the Indian batsmen in the first innings of the match. India was bowled out for a mere 209 and the tourists trailed by 77 runs in the first innings.

Hardik Pandya was the lone fighter scoring 93 off 95 deliveries. He was the man of the day for the Indian team as he also removed both the openers, Dean Elgar and Aiden Markram to keep his team in the hunt. South Africa was 65/2 at stumps on day two.
