Former India off-spinner, Pragyan Ojha, feels that the Royal Challengers Bangalore [RCB] can finally win the IPL after the wait of 12 long years. Even after making it to three IPL finals, RCB has failed to get their hands on the coveted IPL trophy.

RCB currently occupies the third spot on the points table with six victories in nine matches. They have looked solid, in the batting and in the bowling department – particularly their pace bowling is bolstered with the addition of Chris Morris.

I think they are very close to reality: Pragyan Ojha

Ahead of RCB’s encounter with Kolkata Knight Riders[KKR], Pragyan Ojha said talks about RCB dream of winning the trophy for over a dozen years now. He says they are very close to reality.

The off-spinner believes that with the help of players like AB de Villiers, Virat Kohli, and Chris Morris, RCB could lift the title this year. He also talked about the momentum which Kings XI Punjab has gained by beating Mumbai and Delhi, and no team should be taken lightly.

Speaking to Sports Today Pragyan Ojha said, “The way they are playing, I think they are very close to reality. This year, I believe, it won’t be a dream for them because of the way they are playing. Once these kind of players, like ABD (de Villiers), Virat Kohli and Chris Morris, once they get that flow and the start, they are different players,”

“Yesterday, we saw it with Kings XI Punjab. We have always spoken about the potential of this team, when they got going, they beat Mumbai, they beat DC — the top 2 teams. We shouldn’t take anybody lightly. This format is such that things will change within a minute.”

The former India player also spoke about the composure and clarity in the thought process that coach Mike Hesson has brought in the RCB camp, something which they lacked in the previous seasons. Ojha says even though they had all these players earlier as well, Hesson has got the stability and maturity they needed.

“I think they are much more composed. Their clarity of thought is very good. The one thing that they were lacking is the coach, they had the players all these years, Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers.

“Mike Hesson has got that stability (they needed). They had most of their players earlier also. This year, their planning and the way they are going about their business is more mature”, Ojha said.
