Indian batsman, Ajinkya Rahane wants Prithvi Shaw to perform the same way he batted for Mumbai in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy.

However, Prithvi Shaw was the run machine for the Mumbai side.

Indian vice-captain Rahane wants him to be the same attacking player as he scored plenty of runs for Mumbai in this season.

“I am happy for Shaw. I have seen him since his young days, we used to practice together, he is an attacking opener and done well for India A and got the reward,” Ajinkya Rahane said.

Meanwhile, the veteran Ajinkya Rahane didn’t commit who among Prithvi Shaw and Mayank Agarwal will open with KL Rahul in the opening Test in Rajkot, starting October 4.

“Personally we don’t know the combination what we are going to play. But there is no pressure, it is an opportunity for every individual to express ourselves. I wish him good luck and I am sure he will do well. I just want him to play as he has been doing for Mumbai and India A and I think he will be fine,” Rahane added.

India had a disappointing outing in England in recent times. Rahane is leading the Mumbai side and had won all the three matches over Baroda, Karnataka, and Railways in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. Moreover, it was also a good match practice for him ahead of the West Indies series.

“After coming back from England, I was just looking to do well for Mumbai at that point of time and get some match practice (although it was white ball cricket) ahead of the West Indies series. Vijay Hazare was a good match practice for me,” Ajinkya Rahane concluded.

Furthermore, India had failed to impose their best in English soil losing 1-4 in the five-match Test series. They will try to put their level best to win both the matches. India and Windies will square off for the two-match test series from October 4 (Thursday).
