India’s young gun Prithvi Shaw is on the road to recover ahead of the second Test match. On Monday, Shaw was seen running in the field in a bid to return to the Test side. The cricketer sustained an ankle injury during India’s warm-up match in Sydney ahead of the first Test. The right-hand batter scored a fifty in his debut game on Australian soil.

In-form Prithvi Shaw will be a boon for India

Shaw has been touted as the next big thing in the block. He hammered a hundred in his debut match against the Windies and celebrated it with another fifty in the next innings. He was likely to play the first Test until he got injured while attempting a catch near the boundary ropes. The fielder tried to keep the ball in play and in the process twisted his ankle.

Shastri on Shaw’s recovery

India’s head coach Ravi Shastri feels Shaw is set to recover quickly as he is still young and can nurse the injury in the right manner. “With youth on his side there might just be a case where he might recover quicker,” Indian coach Ravi Shastri said last week.n

He added that there is still time for the second Test and therefore a call will be taken. Both the Indian openers flopped in the first. A consolation 40-odd runs from KL Rahul might just help him save his place in the side for one more Test. We’ll make a call as and when we get closer to Perth.”Shastri said.
