PSL 2023: 'A Tailender Is Better Than Babar Azam'- Mohammed Amir Downplays Face-Off Against Former Teammate Babar Azam

Mohammad Amir and Babar Azam will go head to head against each other when Karachi Kings take on the Peshawar Zalmi in match 2 of PSL 2023 in Karachi.
Amir and Babar were teammates at Karachi Kings in PSL 2022. Babar was the leader of the side with Amir being one of his wicket-takers with the ball. 12 months down the line, Babar is now a part of Peshawar Zalmi and also the leader of the side.
Ahead of the clash between the two sides, Mohammed Amir has played down his face-off against Babar Azam. In an interaction with the ARY news program PSL Special, the former Pakistan pacer said that it is face-offs like this that make matches interesting.

“I personally like these sort of challenges because it keeps me focused. My job is to take wickets and win matches for my team, so for me, facing Babar or a tailender batting at number 10 will be the same” said Amir.
Babar too has downplayed his face off against his former teammate. He said that he likes to stick to his basics when playing against any bowler in the league.
“Competition is always good for the league. Not only Karachi, but every team has good quality local bowlers. That is why all foreigners play this league because it is a quality league,” Babar said. “When I play against any quality bowler, I stick to my basics,” said Babar.
Babar Azam’s PSL Leading Run Scorer With 2413 Runs In 68 Matches
Babar Azam has the most unwanted captaincy record in the PSL. Under him, Karachi Kings, Karachi lost nine back-to-back games in the previous season. However, he is the leading run-scorer in the league with 2,413 runs in 68 matches.
A total of 34 matches will take place during PSL 2023. During the league stage, each team will face the other team twice. After the league stage, the top 4 teams in the points table will reach playoffs. The bottom 2 teams will be eliminated. The PSL 2023 matches will be held across four venues namely, Multan, Lahore, Karachi, and Rawalpindi. The final will be played on March 19 at the Gadaafi stadium, Lahore.
