Former Indian cricketer Suresh Raina’s family members’ murder quite recently came as a massive shock to the cricketing fraternity and fans. It was Suresh Raina’s Uncle, who died on the spot and his son succumbed to injuries while his wife is in the hospital in a critical condition. The good news is that the case has reached its verdict and three men have been arrested, according to Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh.

Suresh Raina’s family tragedy was partly the reason for his departure from the Chennai Super Kings’ camp from the UAE this year. The flamboyant left-handed batsman called for justice to be delivered and immediate action by the cops. Raina, who is a vital member of CSK’s squad, visited his family earlier on Wednesday, thanked the Punjab government for their assistance and brilliant work. He described the attack as beyond horrible and had the Chief Minister look at it.

The accused got identified as Sawan alias Matching, Muhobbat and Shahrukh Khan, all residents of Rajasthan. Punjab Director General of Police Dinkar Gupta told NDTV that they were part of an inter-state gang of robbers while other 11 men are on the run and efforts are being made to get them in custody.

Attack on Suresh Raina’s family was a case of robbery:

The robbery took place on the night of 19th and 20th August, for which a four-member special investigation team was formed. More than 100 suspected persons underwent examination during the scrutinisation. The suspects were hiding in slum dwellings near the Pathankot Railway Station.

The cops raided the location, captured the accused, and recovered two wooden sticks – presumably used as weapons alongside a couple of golden rings and cash worth INR 1530. Dinkar Gupta added that the fugitives had committed similar crimes in Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, and even Jammu & Kashmir.
