Premier India spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has sent out a strong message after Mumbai-based cricketer Karan Tiwari died by suicide at his residence on Monday. Karan Tiwari, 27, was found hanging from the ceiling fan of his room. He was suspected to be depressed due to concerns over his professional career.
Tiwari was said to have not found a platform to showcase his talent and an elusive Indian Premier League (IPL) contract did not help his mental situation. He idolised South Africa legend Dale Steyn and adjusted his bowling according to the fast bowler.
Ashwin said that the death is a reality check as he couldn’t take rejections. He also advised that youngsters should learn to accept rejections as a part if the journey called life. Ashwin further added that youngsters should be shown different career options all through their school and college life.
“The demise of the Mumbai based cricketer is such a reality check, he decided to end his life because he couldn’t take rejection. The future lies with the youth of today and they must be taught to accept rejection as a part of the journey called life.
“People who are going after success in cricket or any other field for that matter, must be shown different career options all through their school and college life,” Ashwin tweeted.
