The brotherly love between Deepak Chahar and Rahul Chahar will take the back seat on Friday when Chennai Super Kings lock horns against Mumbai Indians in the 41st match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020. The brothers will be up against each other when the IPL giants take on each other.
Deepak and Rahul had started their IPL career with the same team – Rising Pune Supergiant. However, when the Pune-based outfit’s journey in IPL came to an end, they were signed up by different sides ahead of the season in 2018. While CSK signed up Deepak, Mumbai Indians secured the services of Rahul Chahar.
The brothers are now gearing up to take on each other again. And ahead of the upcoming clash, Rahul Chahar opened up on the rivalry between him and his cousin. The leg-spinner stated that he treats Deepak like any other player when he is up against him.
He also joked that he would tease Deepak if Mumbai Indians beat CSK in the mouth-watering clash. Both the teams have already met once this season and CSK had come out on top on that occasion.
“I prefer doing the talking after the game if we win. I remember, in 2018, he teased me after his team had won. Last year, I teased him after we won. I will tease him again after we win,” Rahul Chahar said in a video posted on Mumbai Indians’ Twitter handle.
“We never really speak about playing against each other. We both know we have to give 100 percent for our respective teams. When I am up against him, I treat him like any other player,” he added.
Deepak and Rahul Chahar’s performance:
Both the brothers have done well so far. CSK pace spearhead Deepak has picked up 10 wickets in ten games at an economy-rate of 7.50. On the other hand, Rahul Chahar has taken 11 wickets in nine games with an economy rate of 7.40. As far as their team’s performances are concerned, it has been very contrasting.
With 6 wins from nine matches, Mumbai Indians are looking set to make it to the playoffs. CSK, on the other hand, are in danger of missing out on the playoff spot for the first time after managing just three wins in ten games.
