Ranji Trophy 2018-19: Ajay Rohera Sets Highest-ever Score on First-class Debut

Madhya Pradesh’s 21-year-old opener Ajay Rohera has just broken a 24-year-old world record, for the highest score on the first-class debut. However, he broke Amol Muzumdar’s 24-year-old record of 260, set in 1994.
Moreover, the youngster had remained unbeaten on 267 runs for Madhya Pradesh against Hyderabad in Indore. The team had declared the innings on 562 for four with a staggering lead of 438 runs.
Potential batsman Rohera was batting on 255 at stumps on Friday whereas, Madhya Pradesh’s total was 539 for four after bowling Hyderabad out for a paltry total of 124. He bagged the record early on Saturday.

Moreover, Hyderabad required 438 runs to level the first innings total of MP in their second essay of the match. While doing that, they lost their six wickets adding just 111 runs on the board.
Fast bowler Avesh Khan was the pick of the bowlers from Madhya Pradesh. He took seven wickets in the first innings and also bagged another three in the second essay. He also added another ten-wicket haul in the match to his name.

Rohera had previously played two List-A career games scoring 20 runs of those matches.
Definitely, for now, he opened up his career on a bright note while scoring his first fifty along with a ton and later converted it into double-century.
Ajay Rohera had indeed left an impact to impress the selectors, and he is expected to comment his place in the playing XI for the upcoming matches.
