Dhawal Kulkarni after leading Mumbai in the first three games in the Ranji Trophy has now found his name missing from the squad against Vidarbha which will begin from December 30 at Nagpur. The team is in a dreadful situation in the points table as they only have 11 points from six games.
Kulkarni left out from the squad
The Ajit Agarkar-led selection panel opted to include Shardul Thakur, Tushar Deshpande, Minad Manjrekar and Royston Dias as pacers in the side. After a string of poor shows for Mumbai, Kulkarni said that he is looking forward to playing the remaining games.
“I was looking forward to playing the last two games which I think are very important for Mumbai,” Dhawal Kulkarni was quoted as saying by Mumbai Mirror on Friday.
Meanwhile, Kulkarni missed the last three games due to an injury in his ankle. He had done his treatment at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru and was declared fit. He also submitted the clearance certificate to the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA), but still, his name was missing.
“I was cleared by the physios at the NCA, and I have submitted my fitness report. Obviously, I am disappointed, the selectors have told me that I have been rested. It is their decision which I have to respect,” he added.
According to sources in the selection committee, Mumbai doesn’t want too many players in the side returning from injury. However, this might be the primary reason why Kulkarni’s name was not there in the squad.

“I am a proud Mumbai player, captained the team with pride, and I am hoping to get back into the Mumbai side at the earliest,” Dhawal Kulkarni concluded.
