Ranji Trophy 2018-19: Jammu and Kashmir Announces 16-member Squad

The five-member selection panel has announced Jammu and Kashmir 16-man squad for the upcoming season of the Ranji Trophy 2018-19. The off-spinner Parvez Rasool will continue to hold the captaincy reins for his state team. Meanwhile, India’s all-rounder Irfan Pathan is going to play a role of player-cum-mentor.

The squad is announced by Jammy and Kashmir Cricket Association, CEO, Syed Ashiquie. The 16-member squad is named after the recommendations made by the senior selection committee, which is headed by former Test player, Rashid Patel.

Parveez Rasool will hold the captaincy reins.

Meanwhile, this squad is for the first two matches of Jammu and Kashmir in the upcoming domestic tournament. J&K will lock horns with Goa and Rajasthan.

On the other hand, Obaid Haroon, who is a veteran wicketkeeper-batsman has made a return to the squad. Furthermore, flamboyant southpaw batsman Owais Shah also makes the cut.

Meanwhile, experienced players like Samiullah Beigh, Abid Nabi, Adil Reshi and Imran Haroon have not found their place in the squad. However, as the squad is for the first two matches, they can return back to action for their team.

Jammu and Kashmir are coached by Milap Mewda of Baroda. Amit Barotra is the fielding coach of the team.

The state team will commence their Ranji Trophy campaign when they will take on Rajasthan at Sawai Man Singh Stadium on November 1.

Squad: Parvez Rasool, Irfan Pathan, Shubham Khajuria, Ahmad Banday, Shubham Pundir, Ian Dev Singh, Owais Shah, Obaid Haroon, Waseem Raza, Amir Aziz, Mohammad Mudhasir, Umar Nazir, Aakash Chaudhary, Fazil Rashid, Rohit Sharma and Paras Sharma.
