Ravichandran Ashwin lauded the Delhi Capitals bowling attack’s versatility following his ‘Player of the Match’ winning performance [2-22 in four overs] against Rajasthan Royals at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Friday.

Ashwin was used brilliantly in the powerplay by Shreyas Iyer and the move eventually paid dividends as the off-spinner immediately claimed the big fish in Jos Buttler before claiming another wicket in his second spell to round off a brilliant day’s work.

Ashwin thanked the team-management for placing faith in him besides adding that he is a very good mental and physical space, something that he is reflecting in his performances.

”One of the important things in this bowling attack is that most bowlers can bowl at any moment. It is sort of a role where you can put your hand up and be brave about it. Credit goes to the backroom staff. I am in a very good space mentally and physically and it really shows. Really enjoying myself in both those spaces. I just need to take it out to practice once the planning is done and then go out and express myself. I did use the carrom ball in the powerplay once or twice,” Ravichandran Ashwin said in the post-match interview.

Ashwin also lauded Shikhar Dhawan for the stunning catch that he took to get rid of Jos Buttler besides revealing that it was difficult to bowl as the innings progressed due to enormous due.

”It is just about how much you want to use it in the powerplay when you’re ahead of the game. I got a brilliant catch and getting that Jos (Buttler) wicket was important. But the ball was soaking wet after the powerplay and the sweat didn’t help either,” Ashwin revealed.

Ravichandran Ashwin has already had one injury scare in this tournament and the off-spinner, when asked about how his body is recuperating from the shoulder injury, he said-

”In a lot of positions my body is taking over psychologically. I just don’t want to land awkwardly and put weight on it. But it is important that I look after myself and not stretch it,” Ashwin signed off.
