Ravichandran Ashwin Lauds PNG For Qualifying To Appear In ICC T20I World Cup 2020

The game of cricket has witnessed quite a few inspirational stories over the years. The latest to be enlisted on the same page is the emergence of PNG in the game of cricket. Papua New Guinea has outsmarted Kenya in the all-important game to book their place in the ICC T20I World Cup 2020, which will be played in Australia. Meanwhile, Ravichandran Ashwin showers words of praise for their display of cricketing skills.

The way in which PNG went about their work had their fans at the edge of their seats. Kenya captain Shem Ngoche won the toss, and at first, the decision to make PNG bat first seemed to be spot on. The Kenya bowlers wreaked havoc as PNG found themselves tottering at 19 for six in four overs.

Just when things looked all lost for PNG, then came the knock from Norman, who fought all the odds to score 54 to the team while Sese Bau scored a crucial 17-run knock. A couple of Sixes by Kila at the end also helped the team to post 118 runs on the board, which is a decent recovery after losing 6 wickets for 19 runs on the board.

During the chase Vanua returned to haunt the Kenyans once again, claiming two wickets in his three overs. Nosaina Pokana and Assad Vala took three wickets each to script a memorable win for PNG. The heroics of the bowlers saw Kenya being folded out for just 73 runs on the board, thus, helping PNG to collect 45-run victory.

Actually, PNG’s fortunes were dependent on the match between the Netherlands and Scotland with the former topping the group had they won the match. But the Netherlands could not chase down the total of 130 off 12.3 overs, thus trailed PNG on net run rate.
