Ravichandran Ashwin Reacts After Leaving King XI Punjab

Off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin shifted his base to Delhi Capitals for the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Looking back at his journey, Ashwin said that he had an exceptional time with the Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) during his two-year stint.

Delhi Capitals offered KXIP left-arm spinner Jagdeeshan Suchith and an additional sum of INR 1.5 crores as part of the exchange. Furthermore, Ravichandran Ashwin will get INR 7.6 crores, his auction value from the IPL 2018 auction.

He has been among the top performers in the IPL since making his debut in 2009, having claimed 125 wickets from 139 games at an excellent economy rate of 6.79. He was an integral part of the Chennai Super Kings squad. However, Ravichandran Ashwin didn’t enjoy large success with the Kings XI Punjab.

Speaking about his journey, Ravichandran Ashwin said that he had an outstanding time during his stint. He also thanked the fans for their endless support and said that currently, he is looking for new challenges in his career.

“I will always look back fondly at the two years I spent with the Kings and will miss all my teammates. I am looking ahead to new challenges. “I would also like to thank the fans for their endless support over the two years, it was incredible to see them come out and support their team,” he added.

Ravichandran Ashwin played 28 matches in his two seasons for Kings XI and led the team to twelve victories. In that tenure, he picked up 25 wickets, with the best bowling of 3/23, and amassed 144 runs that included his IPL highest score of 45.
