IPL 2020: Ricky Ponting Names The Most Dangerous Player From Mumbai Indians

Delhi Capitals’ head coach Ricky Ponting is arguably one of the most successful coaches in the IPL. Ricky Ponting has brought about a change in the fortunes of Delhi Capitals and could guide the franchise to their maiden trophy this year. The Tasmanian, who was once the captain of Mumbai Indians, has led them to a title as a coach and picked the most dangerous player ahead of the 13th edition.

Ricky Ponting did not hesitate in picking former Mumbai Indians teammate Rohit Sharma as their most lethal player as per cricket.com.au. It is worth noting that Rohit Sharma overtook Ponting as the captain of the franchise in IPL 2013 and has tasted enormous success since then. The 33-year old is the most successful skipper, having led Mumbai Indians to four titles, including the previous one.

With 4898 runs at a strike rate of 130, the classy right-handed batsman is the third-highest run-getter in the tournament’s history. Apart from guiding Mumbai to four IPL victories, he has also won a competition merely as a player with Deccan Chargers in 2009. As far as Rohit’s international career goes, he has donned the Indian jersey in 224 ODIs, 108 T20Is, and 32 Tests so far, becoming one of the best openers in white-ball cricket.

Mumbai Indians will also open the 2020 campaign facing Chennai Super Kings in the inaugural encounter in Abu Dhabi. The pair even square off in the final of the previous season in which Mumbai Indians beat the yellow army by one run. The Rohit Sharma-led side has defeated CSK in the three out of the four tournament-deciders taken place between them.
