On Thursday, the cricketing legend Ricky Ponting dusted off his kit bag to start training again for the upcoming Bushfire Charity Cricket game. The former Australian skipper posted a video on his social media platforms, where he was seen practicing cover drives and lofted hits.

Three World Cup titles including two consecutive ones as captain to go with a couple of Champions Trophy titles and the no.1 Test ranking shows that he had seen it all in the international arena. Adding to all this was his strokeplay as a batsman. He was one of the best batsmen that the cricketing world had ever witnessed.

The star-studded Bushfire fund-raising cricket match is supposed to take place on Saturday at the Sydney Cricket Ground. Due to forecast of heavy rain, it has been moved to Junction Oval on Sunday. Heavy rains are expected from Friday night until the end of the weekend and the priority is to ensure that the Big Bash League final takes place.

International legends including Wasim Akram, Brian Lara, Sachin Tendulkar and Courtney Walsh were set to be involved, along with the likes of former Australia stars Adam Gilchrist, Brett Lee, Michael Clarke, Shane Watson and Justin Langer. All match profits and funds would go to the Australian Red Cross Disaster Relief and Recovery Fund.

Meanwhile, Adam Gilchrist takes over the captaincy controls from Shane Warne since the former legspinner has been ruled out due to prior commitments. Sadly, the rescheduling further means that former Australia captain Michael Clarke, batsman Michael Hussey, along with a number of the female stars will also no longer be able to take part.
