Of late, Rishabh Pant has been the regular headliner in the International cricket for his heroics in Test cricket. Meanwhile, the former skipper of India, Sourav Ganguly believes Pant should be considered across the formats for India. He strongly makes his voice on Rishabh Pant for his place in the ICC World Cup 2019.

Ganguly was thoroughly impressed with young sensation Rishabh Pant’s batting rendition in Sydney. The Delhi southpaw registered an unbeaten 159 to drive India beyond the 600-mark in the first innings. It was an incredible performance from an Indian wicketkeeper, who bagged quite a few records.

Rishabh Pant can play at number 4 – Sourav Ganguly

Ganguly asked the selectors to include him in the ODI squad against Australia as he could be a key cog in the wheel for India in the World Cup in England and Wales later this year. In the recently announced squads, BCCI replaced Pant with Dinesh Karthik.

The former skipper went on to say that Rishabh Pant can change the course of the game in a period of 5 overs. He feels that Rishabh Pant can be the X-factor in the team something which India needs in the current ODI setup.

“He is an outstanding player and all I would like to tell the selectors is that he should play all the formats because he could be a match-winner for India in the World Cup. He can play at Number 4 because he has an uncomplicated batting style. He plays the fast bowlers with ease and hits them for boundaries,” Ganguly told India TV.

“You need players who can change the game for you. Rohit (Sharma), (Shikhar) Dhawan and (Virat) Kohli will change the game and after these three, Pant could be the player, who can change the game for you, none have the calibre otherwise. Ambati Rayudu, Kedar Jadhav and even Mahendra Singh Dhoni will play in their own ways but this guy can change the game in even five overs. So, you need to take care of him,” added Ganguly.

Well, as Sourav Ganguly said, Rishabh Pant can be the biggest positive for Indian National Cricket Team in the limited overs format. His ability to yield runs in a quick fashion would certainly help Indian side making things happen.
