Suryakumar Yadav continues to turn heads with his stunning performances in domestic circuit. Such has been his performances this season that one can’t help but feel bad for him not being a part of the Indian team. The Mumbai star has impressed one and all with his hard-hitting and finishing skills in white-ball cricket.
In the Vijay Hazare Trophy, he batted only four times in eight matches but finished the competition with the best average and strike-rate for all the players with minimum 100 runs. He averaged a staggering 113 in with the bat and had a strike-rate of 154.79. He carried that form in the T20s too, impressing in the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.

Mumbai exited the competition on Wednesday despite beating Punjab due to net run-rate but Suryakumar Yadav once again made his mark. He slammed 80 off just 35 balls to help his side post a mammoth target of 243/3 in 20 overs against Punjab. He hammered five sixes and eight boundaries en route to his blazing half-century.

Mumbai needed to restrict Punjab to 150 to pip Karnataka on net run-rate and go through to the semi-finals. However, they failed to do so as Punjab came out all guns blazing. Led by young Shubman Gill and Abhishek Sharma up front, Punjab started strongly and crossed the 150-run mark in the 14th over, ensuring Mumbai were knocked out. Punjab eventually finished on 221 for 6.
Mumbai Indians and Rohit Sharma impressed:
As soon as Suryakumar Yadav finished his knock against Punjab, his IPL franchise Mumbai Indians took to Instagram to lavish praise on him. The franchise issued a warning to all the bowlers, advising them to stay away from Suryakumar Yadav. And one man who was quick to agree to the advise was none other than India superstar and Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma.
“Statutory warning: If you’re a bowler, please stay away from Suryakumar Yadav ? Another game. Another breezy knock!,” wrote Mumbai Indians.
In reply, Rohit simply wrote: “Agree.”
