The classy opening batsman of India, Rohit Sharma on Wednesday (December 11) scripted history. He became the first Indian batsman to smash 400 international sixes following his mammoth hit over the deep mid-wicket fence in the 3rd over of the third T20I against West Indies at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
Rohit Sharma smashed Windies fast bowler Sheldon Cottrell towards the cow corner to bring up the iconic landmark as he became the first-ever Indian to touch the milestone of 400 international sixes. Only former Pakistan skipper Shahid Afridi and West Indies’ Chris Gayle have hit more sixes than Rohit in international cricket.

Rohit Sharma is the fastest to achieve the feat:
Gayle, with 534 sixes, holds the record of hitting the most number of sixes while Afridi, with 476 sixes, is second on the list. However, Rohit Sharma is the quickest player to reach the tally. Rohit Sharma achieved the feat in his 354th match while Chris Gayle required 414 matches. Shahid Afridi took 446 games to do so.
Rohit, popularly known as ‘Hitman’, has so far hit 232 sixes in ODIs, 52 in Tests and 120 in T20Is. Even in Indian Premier League, Rohit Sharma scored 194 sixes in his 183 games. Rohit has been a stalwart for India at the top of the order in limited-overs cricket. Recently, he also broke the record for most sixes in a Test match by a single batsman.

In total, Rohit Sharma scored 404 sixes to his name. And also, Rohit Sharma holds the record for the most sixes in international cricket in 2019. He tops the charts with 67 sixes and counting. Rohit held the record for most sixes in 2017 and 2018 as well with 65 and 74, respectively.
