Rohit Sharma scored an unbeaten century during India’s opening match against South Africa and smashed four more against Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Pakistan, and England in his tally of 648 runs. The century against England was the only one that resulted in a losing cause.
While the score of 140 against Pakistan was his highest and also the most destructive, the 33-year old preferred the one scored against South Africa.
He underlined that the hundred against the Proteas while arrived in a modest chase, the conditions and the bowlers were challenging. South Africa unleashed the likes of Kagiso Rabada, Andile Phehlukwayo, Chris Morris, Imran Tahir, and Tabraiz Shamsi. However, they could not claim the wicket of the right-handed batsman, who remained unbeaten at 122 to guide India past 227.

While the flamboyant right-handed batsman sent the records tumbling throughout the tournament, India’s promising journey came to an end following the semi-final. In the knockout match against New Zealand in Manchester, Rohit managed only a single as India’s batting line-up stumbled under overcast conditions in pursuit of 239.
With 647 runs, David Warner was a close second to Rohit Sharma. The Nagpur-born player would be seen in the IPL in September in UAE, returning to lead the Mumbai Indians.
