Questions about MS Dhoni’s comeback to international cricket gets louder as ever even as the cricketing world has come to a standstill. The Indian Premier League 2020 was a massive pathway for the former captain to stay in the reckoning for the T20 World Cup in October. But with the tournament being postponed indefinitely as well, it seems uncertain whether he would don the Indian colours again. Meanwhile, when asked Rohit Sharma’s opinions regarding the same, he comically advised the fans to ask Dhoni directly.

Like many present and former cricketers, Rohit decided to engage with the fans in a question and answer session via Instagram. Off-spinner Harbhajan Singh was also present with the opening batsman. When the topic came along about the 38-year old’s return, the Mumbai batsman denied knowing any news about him and instead urged the public to ask him directly.

Rohit Sharma answers when asked about MS Dhoni’s future:

The Indian limited-overs vice-captain said that when Dhoni isn’t playing cricket, he disappears. He further conceded that once the lockdown ends, the fans who are keen can opt for any mode of travel to interrogate him about the same in Ranchi. The 31-year old concluded this discussion by saying that we haven’t heard any news about the veteran cricketer ever since July 2019.

“When MS Dhoni is not playing cricket, he goes out of radar. He goes underground. Whoever wants to know, you can directly go to him, you know he stays in Ranchi.” “You can’t go now but after the lockdown, you take a car, bike or flight go to his place and ask him ‘What are you going to do? Will you play or not?’

“We don’t know what’s happening with him. We haven’t heard any news about him. The last match of the World Cup was in July. From there, till now we haven’t heard anything I have no idea.” Dhoni said as quoted by India Today.

Harbhajan Singh makes a massive statement about MS Dhoni:

As far as Harbhajan Singh was concerned, the World Cup-winning captain isn’t very keen to play for the national team again. Despite his willingness to play in the IPL, Dhoni may likely not feature for India ever again. The 103-Test veteran conceded that since he has played so much already for India, he might not do it further.

“He wants to play IPL 100 percent. But one needs to know his take on whether he wants to play for India anymore or not. I think he doesn’t want to play for India again. He has played so much for India.”

“As far as I know him, he doesn’t want to wear the blue jersey again. He decided that India’s last match in the World Cup was his last. A few people have also told me that this is the case.” Harbhajan stated.

Mahendra Singh Dhoni last played for India in the 2019 World Cup semi-final against New Zealand. He hit a half-century before his run-out put an end to India’s World Cup hopes. The former Indian skipper also participated in CSK’s training camp ahead of the thirteenth season of the IPL before it got called off indefinitely due to the COVID-19 situation.
