Indian batsman Rohit Sharma played another career-defining knock at Mohali yesterday when the Indians took on Sri Lanka. The acting skipper led by example at the stadium after a thumping defeat in the first ODI. His answer to the loss came in first ODI came as he hammered his way to the third double hundred of his career in one Day Internationals.
Rohit Sharma’s surreal knock of 208* came off just 151 deliveries which saw him hit 12 monumental sixes. He also mastered the art of stroke playing by hitting 13 boundaries in his inning. Riding on his double ton, India put up a staggering total of 392 runs on the board which saw them level the series at one each. Sharma broke into some record lists as he became the first batsman in cricket history to score two double centuries in the 50 over the format of the game. He also became the second Indian captain to cross the 200 run mark in an inning after the destructive Virender Sehwag.
Twitter went berserk on seeing Rohit Sharma play the mesmerising knock and legends all over the world congratulated the opener on the same. Virender Sehwag himself was left in awe to see Rohit bring up the second 100 of his double ton in just 35 balls. Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar also sent a message for the ‘Hitman’ letting him know that it is a treat to watch him bat.
Not only the cricketers but the fans all over the world showered their love for Rohit as flattered the Mumbai Indians skipper. Rohit Sharma took to Twitter today to return the favour to all his well-wishers in a beautiful tweet. In his tweet, Rohit Sharma mentioned the innings as special as a dream come true for him, and he is more than happy that India won the match. He also stated that he dedicated the godly knock to his wife who supported her throughout the knock from the stands.
