While there is absolutely little clarity on the situation surrounding Rohit Sharma’s injury, latest reports are suggesting that the India opener could leave for Australia with the rest of the team for the upcoming tour. Team India is scheduled to leave for Australia on November 12, two days after the IL ends in the UAE.

Last month, the BCCI had announced the squads for all the three formats but Rohit Sharma’s name was missing from all of them as the batsman was sidelined with a hamstring injury. With the tour more than a month away, the selectors’ decision made many believe that Rohit Sharma’s injury was serious.

But just moments after the squad announcement, the batsman returned to training in the nets, leaving many surprised. Following his return to the nets, India head coach Ravi Shastri as well as BCCI president Sourav Ganguly had advised him not to rush his comeback.

However, Rohit Sharma sprung another surprise by returning to action for the game against Sunrisers Hyderabad earlier this week before leading Mumbai Indians again in Qualifier 1 against Delhi Capitals on Thursday.

Rohit Sharma to leave for Australia:

Last month, BCCI president Sourav Ganguly had made it crystal clear that the board would not hesitate in sending a fit Rohit Sharma to Australia. And as per a report in Outlook, the Indian white-ball vice-captain might board the chartered flight  to Australia next week.

His team Mumbai Indians has qualified for the final and Rohit will feature in the title-decider on 10th November. The Indian team will be travelling to Sydney and Rohit Sharma is expected to board the same flight.

“A decision will be taken soon in this regard. It’s only fair that Rohit stays with the team and does his strength and conditioning work under physio Nitin Patel and trainer Nick Webb. Let’s see how it goes,” a BCCI source told the news outlet.

India are scheduled to play three ODIs, three T20Is and four Tests in Australia. The tour will kickstart with the ODI series on 27th November while the Test series will begin later on 17th December.
