Former Indian seamer Rudra Pratap Singh has picked India’s 2019 World Cup squad. Interestingly, the former pacer has included Siddarth Kaul in the team. Kaul hasn’t played a lot of ODI cricket and lacks experience at the International level. However, Singh has included Kaul in his squad as a back-up seamer to Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami.
RP Singh has also included KL Rahul in his World Cup squad. Rahul had struggled to get going but he was able to get amongst the runs in the T20I series against Australia. The flamboyant batsman scored a good knock of 50 in the first T20I and backed it with another innings of 47 runs. Thus, Rahul has made a case for himself and he can be included as the backup opener to Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan, who have done a magnificent job in the recent past.
Furthermore, RP Singh has also included Rishabh Pant in his squad. Pant has made an impressive start to his Test career, however, he hasn’t come up with a great performance in ODI cricket. In fact, RP Singh wants to select either Kedar Jadhav or Rishabh Pant in his squad. Jadhav has done a great job with the ball for the Indian team.
Surprisingly, there is no Dinesh Karthik in former Uttar Pradesh’s bowler line-up. Karthik has done a great job in providing the finishing touches to the Men in Blue. However, Karthik didn’t get his chance in the ongoing ODI series against Australia. RP has mostly kept the core of the team in his squad and has also included Ravindra Jadeja.
Here is RP Singh squad:
Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan, Ambati Rayudu, MS Dhoni (c), Hardik Pandya, Kedar Jadhav/Rishabh Pant, KL Rahul, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Kuldeep Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal, Mohammed Shami, Jasprit Bumrah, Siddarth Kaul, Ravindra Jadeja.
