Chennai Super Kings’ latest batting sensation Ruturaj Gaikwad has posted a heartwarming message for his skipper MS Dhoni, revealing a couple of touching gestures for him from the former India skipper.

The Maharashtra batsman has become a household name in India now thanks to his impressive performances with the bat at the fag end of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020. The right-handed batsman turned out to be one of the few positives in an otherwise dismal campaign for CSK.

He scored three consecutive half-centuries in the last three games of IPL 2020 for CSK as the Chennai-based outfit exited the tournament on a high. Those wins also helped CSK avoid a last spot finish in the points table. The MS Dhoni-led side, nonetheless, failed to make it to the playoffs for the first time in the history of the IPL.

Three years later, CSK signed up the batsman and he finally made his debut this year. In his post, Gaikwad further revealed how Dhoni motivated him after he managed just five runs including two ducks in his first three games this season.

“October 2016 I met him for the first time fractured my finger during my debut ranji game. He was the mentor of Jharkhand ..And he himself came and asked me about how I am!!” wrote Ruturaj Gaikwad.

“October 2020..3 low scores, he himself came up and talked about life!!
Fortunate to be able to share the dressing room with him.. And more than a dream to share the 22 yards with him and Finishing things off!,” he added.
