S Sreesanth, when on song, was a sight to behold during his playing days. The right-handed fast bowler was a part of India’s World Cup-winning team in 2007 and 2011.

Sreesanth’s international career was cut short due to his alleged involvement in the 2013 Indian Premier League ‘spot-fixing’ scandal. But now that his ban is finally coming to an end, the fast bowler is aiming to make his comeback.

The fast bowler recently gave an interview to WION where he talked about a plethora of topics related to Indian cricket.

While picking the playing 11, Sreesanth reckoned that he believes in picking one team for all formats. He also went on to choose Rohit Sharma as captain in the T20I format while adding that Virat Kohli can take over the mantle in the other two formats. Rohit Sharma is one of the most successful captains in the shortest format of the game, having won four Indian Premier League editions for the Mumbai Indians.

Coming back to the team that Sreesanth picked, Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan were chosen as designated openers with Virat Kohli coming in at the No.3 spot.

Sreesanth picked all-rounder Suresh Raina at the No.4 spot, while adding that the 2011 World Cup-winning southpaw deserves a lot more appreciation than he gets. KL Rahul, who has been in brilliant form in the past few months leading into the coronavirus-enforced lockdown, comes in at No.5 in Sreesanth’s team followed by the World Cup-winning Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni.

Sreesanth chose Hardik Pandya as the designated all-rounder while Ravindra Jadeja and Kuldeep Yadav serve as the spin-bowling options. As far as the fast bowlers are concerned, the former Indian international picked himself alongside Jasprit Bumrah.

“I firmly believe in one team for all formats. Suresh Raina is someone who deserves a lot more appreciation. And with all due respect to Virat, Rohit will captain in T20s and Kohli can take the captain’s band in all other formats,” said Sreesanth.
