Australia opener David Warner, was at his aggressive best on Sunday at Kingsmead, Durban, as he ran out South Africa’s key batsman, AB de Villiers.
After setting a monumental target of 417, Australians were all over the South Africans. The hosts lost the wickets of gritty Elgar and Hashim Amla off a couple of beauties from Starc and Hazlewood.
With the score only at 39, South Africa’s quintessential batsman AB de Villiers walked in to take the guard with his job cut-out. Looking at a possible defeat, the onus was on Mr. 360 to take his nation out of the dismal situation.

The visitors, on the other hand, were buoyed by the early couple of dismissals and knew the price of ABD’s wicket. AB scored a valuable knock of 71* in the first innings, with wickets crumbling around him.
The Kangaroos could not manage to see the back of AB, until the conclusion of the South African reply. However, Aiden Markram looked solid after his little start.
In one of the Lyon over shortly after Hazlewood’s over, AB de Villiers was on the non-striker’s end. Markram tried to push a short ball on the backfoot at the square leg region.

It was David Warner placed at the backward square leg position, who quickly latched onto the ball. Meanwhile, De Villiers almost ran halfway through the pitch before he was sent back by Markram at the other end.
Unfortunately for South Africa, AB de Villiers was short of the crease and had to go back to the pavilion without scoring any. Buoyed by the bonus wicket, an aggressive Warner gave a mouthful to Markram who was responsible for running their ace batsman out.
The entire Australian team circled him in joy to celebrate the wicket while Warner still had a few words for the young Protean.
