South Africa won the second Test by 135 runs at Supersport Park in Centurion courtesy the ruthless approach by their bowlers, who have had the better of the touring and famed Indian batting line up. None of the Indian batsmen looked comfortable except for Indian skipper Virat Kohli who scored his 21st Test century and scored 153 in the first innings of the Test match.

However, the South African captain Faf Du Plessis believes that the hosts can claim a series whitewash if they maintain their aggressive approach in the third Test to be played at the Wanderers in Johannesburg. South Africa have now claimed two successive Test victories over the world number one Test side, and the Proteas skipper has lauded their aggressive intent for the success.

Du Plessis said in the post-match presentation:

“I favour being ruthless and making sure you dominate a team. We haven’t had the opportunity in a while to beat India 3-0. I don’t think we would make changes just to give guys an opportunity, although it’s a good thing. For me, it’s about having the foot on the gas and making sure you can apply as much pressure as you can with your strongest XI.”

“This is an amazing opportunity for us as a team [to whitewash India] – not a lot of South African teams have had the opportunity – so that makes us more hungry as a team to play our best cricket.”
