Indian Cricketing legend Sachin Tendulkar had the best message for his longtime opening partner Sourav Ganguly, as the latter celebrates his 46th birthday today.

Meanwhile, India celebrated the birthday of the most illustrated India skipper, MS Dhoni. However, Ganguly has no less contribution in shaping this team. ‘Dada’ as he is famously known was also one of the finest batsmen of his time with drives through the offside being his trademark shot.

Rahul Dravid once said, “On the offside, first there is God, then Sourav Ganguly!” which is an accurate description of Ganguly’s heroics with the bat.

His achievements as a skipper may have overshadowed his credentials as a batsman. However, the southpaw was a fantastic add at the top of the order forming a world-class partnership with Tendulkar. His trademark shots include slicing seamers through the off-side or coming down the track to spinners and hammering the ball well beyond the boundary ropes.

Over the years, he has played 113 Tests and 311 ODIs for India scoring 7212 and 11363 runs respectively. Moreover, he also led the team to the final of the 2003 Cricket World Cup before losing to Austalia.

Sachin’s heartwarming gesture

Sachin and Ganguly share one of the most formidable partnerships both on and off the field. The duo dominated the bowlers all over the world in the fifty overs format. They also had the record of highest opening partnership in ODIs for quite some time.

On this auspicious day, Tendulkar had a sweet message for his teammate that too in his native language, Bengali. The duo often admitted talked to each other in Bengali in the crease.

দাদা – আপনার জন্মদিন সুখ আর ভালোবাসায় ভরে উঠুক ।। Wish you a year full of দাদাগিরি, @SGanguly99,” the post read.
