India‘s legendary batsman Sachin Tendulkar believes his son, Arjun Tendulkar can overcome all the obstacles and be ready for the challenges before eyeing the national fold.

Meanwhile, it was never going to be an easy path for Arjun for the name he carries on his back. Being a legend’s son, he was already under the scanner before he embarked on his cricketing journey.

Recently bowling all-rounder represented India Under-19 in the Youth Test against Sri Lanka in the Island nation.

The left-arm paceman Arjun had a dream debut picking his first-wicket only in the second over.

However, he didn’t have a good impact with the bat. Arjun played both the Youth Tests while bagging six wickets. But he missed out from the Youth ODI squad. However, he is currently in London and also bowled to Indian batsmen ahead of the second Test against England at Lord’s.

Tendulkar reckoned he never interfere’s in his son’s cricketing decisions and wants him to make it big on his own.

I have given him the freedom to do whatever he wants. He is a left-arm seamer, he is enjoying his cricket and I don’t interfere too much. As long as he is passionate about playing cricket, I’m sure there will be obstacles, but he will be prepared,” Tendulkar said at BBC Test Match Special.

I am speaking as a father, not as a cricketer:

Tendulkar admitted there would be pressure on Arjun because of the name he carries but at the same time he has been optimistic about certain things.

Sachin Tendulkar also noted that he is speaking to the media as a father (of Arjun Tendulkar) and not as a cricketer.

There is going to be pressure because of the name but I have not spoken much about these things. But I have told the India media that I am speaking to them as a father, not a cricketer,” he concluded.
