Former Sachin Tendulkar has given his thoughts on David Warner’s struggles against England paceman Jofra Archer. If Australian opener David Warner has struggled against Stuart Broad in Tests, it is Jofra Archer in limited-overs cricket. As far as Sachin Tendulkar, who has faced and successfully countered several bowlers around the world, he observes that Archer has not given him enough room to cut.

Since the Ashes 2019 in England, Jofra Archer has regularly had David Warner’s number or threatened to take his scalp. The 25-year old dismissed the southpaw twice in the Ashes followed by four times in the recent limited-overs leg against England. In the IPL, the SunRisers Hyderabad captain has surrendered twice to the Rajasthan Royals’ speedster.

Sachin Tendulkar has observed that Jofra Archer has been aggressive and looked only for wickets along with bowling rockets. The 47-year old lauded Archer for the way he has bowled, steaming in, hitting the deck hard, and is a treat to watch. Sachin Tendulkar also praised the 25-year old’s bouncers, which are not too short either. The Barbados paceman has regularly clocked above 150 in the current edition of IPL.

What I have seen in Jofra is he has looked to get wickets. He is aggressive upfront, he has done his warm-ups and the first over you get to see is 148, 150 152 (on the speed gun). He is bowling at good pace and he is getting batters out, they are not looking to slog and they are losing their wickets. He is actually getting them out.”He has been remarkable, the aggression that I have seen in his bowling has been incredible, such a treat to watch. It’s a joy to watch. A fast bowler charging in, hitting the deck hard… he is bowling those good steep bouncers, they are not short, they are just off the length,” Sachin Tendulkar stated as quoted by Hindustan Times.

Tendulkar went on to state that Archer has been sticking to bowling to the middle stump, taking the ball away from the pitch. Along with that, the 25-year old hands no room to cut; hence, Warner has to play being in the same position and in case the ball swings, the hands move a little away from the body.

He’s bowling off middle-stump and taking the ball away from him off the pitch. When Warner sees the ball, it’s in line, and then the ball leaves him. When it’s in the line, he cannot cut, and because the ball is leaving him, he cannot flick either.”So he has to play in the same position and if the ball swings a little more, his hands are sometimes going away from his body,” the 47-year old continued saying.

The retired Indian cricketer added that Jofra Archer has taken full advantage of Warner’s limitations, not giving space to cut, sticking to the middle stump and moving the ball off the pitch that helps him win the battle against the Australian. Sachin Tendulkar stated that the 25-year old bowling rockets do not allow the batsmen to step out or begin moving upfront even before the ball gets released.

Archer has taken advantage of that. He has not given Warner enough room to cut, to free his arms, he is bowling off-middle and taking the ball away from him off the pitch. Archer has taken advantage of that. He has not given Warner enough room to cut, to free his arms, he is bowling off-middle and taking the ball away from him off the pitch. Not to forget, Archer is bowling at 148-150 kph. This doesn’t allow Warner or any other batter to step outside the crease or start moving upfront towards the bowler even before the ball is released,” he added.
