Master Blaster, Sachin Tendulkar, heaped praises on young sensation Prithvi Shaw during the oping ceremony of Mumbai T20 League.
Tendulkar termed Prithvi’s progress as remarkable and said,
“I saw Prithvi Shaw play in New Zealand (in the U19 World Cup). How he has progressed is remarkable.”
Even when Prithvi was yet to make his debut in junior cricket, he made a comparison with Sachin Tendulkar when he played an innings of 546 just a few days after Tendulkar retired from international cricket.
He grabbed many eyeballs and went onto play for Mumbai in junior cricket.
It was in his Ranji Trophy debut against Tamil Nadu that he again drew comparisons with Tendulkar.
Shaw scored a century in Ranji Trophy debut, a feat that Tendulkar achieved in 1988.
He (Shaw) became first ever batsman after Amol Muzumdar to sore a century in Ranji Trophy debut for Mumbai.
Shaw continued his form and went onto score a century in his Duleep Trophy debut game as well.
Should he score a century in Irani Cup as well, Shaw will become just the second batsman after Tendulkar to score a century in debut of Ranji Trophy, Duleep Trophy and Irani Cup.
During U19 World Cup as well, one of the shots from Shaw drew comparisons with that of Tendulkar.
In his small career till now, he has drawn comparisons with the Master Blaster and this fact cannot be denied that Shaw is in contention to be selected in Indian team soon.
His performances in Irani Cup and IPL will have a great role to play.
A performance in these two tournaments can see the young sensation making it to the Indian team soon.
Recently, he led India U19 to a World Cup victory in New Zealand, leading the team from the front.
The young sensation is a prospect to look out for in next coming months.
