Vidarbha created a history in the ongoing season when they made it to the finals of the Rani Trophy 2017/18. Now Sachin Tendulkar has a message for it. It is first-time in the history of the tournament when Vidharbha made it to the semifinal of the tournament and made it the final as well in the very first go.

The team has done well on the first day of the final as well and has to bat well in the second innings of the game to move a step forward to clinch the trophy.

Ahead of the start of the big final, Vidarbha got the biggest wish, and the wish came from none other than Master Blaster, Sachin Tendulkar,

“Sachin is excited about the fact that a small team like Vidarbha has come this far. He is in regular touch with me and (Vidarbha Cricket Association’s vice-president) Prashant Vaidya. He knows everything about the VCA Academy in Nagpur, and the way we run the academy. He is excited that the boys from that academy are actually playing the final. Over the phone, he sounded very excited,” Subroto Banerjee, Vidarbha’s Head Coach told Sportstar.

In previous few seasons as well, Sachin has been involved in raising the morale of various teams. In 2014/15 season, when Jammu and Kashmir defeated Mumbai, Sachin wished the J & K side and gave a pep talk to the players. Before the start of this season as well, Sachin met Mumbai Ranji and U19 players to raise the morale of the side.

Meanwhile, in today’s game, one of the records of Sachin Tendulkar was broken as Rishab Pant – Delhi captain – became the youngest captain in the history of Ranji Trophy to lead a side in the finals of the tournament. Pant achieved this feat at the age of 20 years and 86 days while Tendulkar was 21 year and 337 days old when he led Mumbai in the final of 1994/95 season in the final against Punjab.
