Wasim Jaffer, former Indian opener and one of the greatest-ever batsman produced by the Mumbai school of batsmanship, has hailed current captain Virat Kohli as the greatest white-ball batsman that the country has ever produced.
Jaffer, who represented India in 30 Tests, recently gave an interview to CricTracker where he was asked to pick the greatest batsman that India has produced in One-day International cricket among Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar, Virat Kohli, and ‘Hitman’ Rohit Sharma.
While Sachin Tendulkar is the leading run-scorer and the highest century-maker in ODI cricket, Kohli, who is the fastest to rack up 10000 ODI runs is the closest contender towards overhauling Sachin’s feat of most three-figure scores.

Wasim Jaffer was also asked to name the batting partner, he enjoyed the most batting with. And, the Mumbaikar had no hesitation in choosing the ‘Nawab of Najafgarh’ Virender Sehwag.
“It has to be Virender Sehwag, purely because he was entertaining,” Jaffer said.
The likes of Prithvi Shaw and Shubman Gill are two of India’s brightest prospects as far as Test match opening is concerned. Halling the duo as ‘very talented’, Jaffer cautioned both Gill and Shaw to maintain the balance.
“Both are very talented. If Shaw keeps his head in the right space, he has miles to go. With the kind of game he possesses, he is a special talent. But he needs to maintain the balance. Even Gill has grabbed the chances with both hands and has gotten quality,” said Wasim Jaffer.
Wasim Jaffer was recently appointed as the head coach of the Uttarakhand Cricket team.
