The much awaited India vs Australia limited overs series got underway at Chepauk in Chennai on Sunday (17th September). The hosts won the toss and Virat Kohli elected to bat first but his decision backfired when the visitors strike early and left the Men in Blue in jitters at 11/3.
When team India were looking set for a comeback, Marcus Stoinis brought a huge breakthrough, as he removed the opening batsman, Rohit Sharma who was looking to let loose.
It was then, the former skipper took matters into in his own hands and steadied the ship with Hardik Pandya, Dhoni and Pandya together put on a hundred-run (118) stand between them to lift the Indian team’s total to a respectable one.
In the process, MS Dhoni brought up his 66th ODI fifty, reaching another milestone, as this half-century was his 100th fifty in international cricket. Dhoni was pretty slow in the beginning when wickets were falling but turned up the scoring in the end, smashing James Faulkner all over the ground.
Although, it was Hardik Pandya who stole the show when he smashed Adam Zampa for 24 runs in one over but MS was as good as anyone.
This landmark half-century from the former India captain was so amazing that even the God of cricket, Sachin Tendulkar could not stop himself from praising yet another astonishing achievement of Dhoni.
Sachin took to Twitter to express his views on MS Dhoni’s innings. Here’s what Sachin Tendulkar tweeted.
