Sakshi Dhoni, wife of MS Dhoni, has clarified why she lost her cool and came up with a reply on seeing #DhoniRetires hashtag on Twitter. She explained the reason while doing an Instagram live session on the official handle of Indian Premier League franchise Chennai Super Kings.
Earlier this week, Twitteratti once again started speculation over the future of the wicketkeeper batsman as a hashtag #DhoniRetires started trending on the. Sakshi Dhoni was not at all impressed with the same and decided to react to it angrily. She slammed the fans for constantly speculating the future of Dhoni, writing:
“It’s only rumours! I understand lockdown has made people mentally unstable.”
However, soon after, she deleted that tweet but the screenshot of her tweet went viral. And on Sunday, she revealed the reason behind posting and deleting that tweet.
“One of my friends messaged me asked me what is going on? That hashtag has been trending since the afternoon. I was like what is it, then I do not know something happened to me and it happened (the tweet) I deleted it, but the job was done, the message was put out,” said Sakshi Dhoni.
Speculations over the former India skipper’s retirement have been rife since last year’s World Cup. At that time, there were reports suggesting that the veteran would bow out of the game after the tournament.
However, he sprung a big surprise by taking an indefinite sabbatical from the game as soon as the World Cup ended in July. The 38-year old has not played a single competitive game since the end of the marquee event.
The veteran wicketkeeper-batsman would have made his much-awaited comeback in March through the thirteenth edition of the IPL. He had also started his training for the season but the coronavirus pandemic changed everything. In the wake of the outbreak, the BCCI has suspended the league indefinitely.
