Exclusive: Sanju Samson Has Hunger, Will Perform For India In Future: Sachin Baby

Kerala wicket-keeper batsman Sanju Samson broke into the Indian team through his consistent performances in the IPL. Samson, however, failed to replicate his form in the few chances he got to play for the national team. His state team captain Sachin Baby feels he will come out good for India in the near future.

Samson received his T20I cap for India in 2015 against Zimbabwe. He has played four matches in the shortest format, scoring 35 runs, which has seen him being dropped out of the side. Samson, 29, has played 55 matches for Kerala in domestic cricket, scoring 3162 runs, at an average of 37.64.

Sachin Baby said Samson did not perform well in the previous chances he got for India. But given the kind of huger he has, Samson will again get chances and perform well for the national team. Besides that, Baby also mentioned Samson is a kind of player who likes to give his best for the team.

“Sanju Samson is a fantastic player, he was always at the top stage whenever the team wants. He always performed and is a champion player too. Everyone knows that he is playing really well in the IPL and nowadays it is a ladder to the Indian team,” Kerala captain Sachin Baby told CricketAddictor in an exclusive interview.

“In future also, he will be getting chances, only thing is whenever he will get a chance, he should convert. Last three series, he did not perform, but the hunger is always there to perform in him. I think he is a person who always plays for the team. He will do well in the future,” he added.

Samson has the experience of playing 149 T20Is, where he has scored 3481 runs at an average of 26.98. He also has two centuries and 21 half-centuries to his name.
