Pakistan great Zaheer Abbas has advised national team captain Sarfraz Ahmed to step down from the leadership role in at least one format of the game.

“He can’t continue to captain in all three formats. The pressure is too much for him. I think he should himself decide which format he should relinquish the captaincy,” Zaheer Abbas said at a book launching ceremony in Karachi on Saturday.

Moreover, Zaheer Abbas also feels that Sarfraz Ahmed should concentrate on his game. It will help to improve his performance, and he can perform as well in all the three formats.

“I don’t think Sarfraz can manage being captain and performing in all three formats. Better for him if he decides to just focus on two formats his performance will also improve,” Abbas added.

As the T20 leagues are increasing day by day, the art of batting had suffered, and one was witnessing below-par batting performance in Tests. However, Abbas had expressed anguish regarding this matter.

Furthermore, former cricketer Moin Khan backed Sarfraz Ahmed. He said that it is not fair to blame Sarfraz if everytime his team performed severely in any format.

In addition to, he also pointed out that Sarfraz Ahmed always bats down the order. He came out to bat where there is pressure on the team, and he couldn’t play his natural game.
