Team India will travel to New Zealand for a second year in a row for a full-fledged series against the Black Caps during the 2019-20 season. India had travelled to New Zealand earlier this year but had only played ODIs and T20Is. The Men in Blue had won the ODI series 4-1 before the hosts won the succeeding T20Is 2-1.

In the upcoming season, New Zealand will host the likes of England, India and Australia. New Zealand, on Friday, announced their home programme for 2019/20 campaign, which runs nearly five months, between November and April. The season will start with England playing five T20s and two tests – the first at Mt Maunganui’s Bay Oval, which will become New Zealand’s ninth test venue.

New Zealand will then travel to Australia for three Tests before hosting India in a blockbuster tour that includes five T20s, three ODIs and two tests at Wellington’s Basin Reserve and Hagley Oval in Christchurch. The Kane Williamson-led side will then fly back to Australia for three ODIs, before returning home to face their trans-Tasman rivals in three T20s.

NZC chief executive David White expressed his delight over the bumper home season, saying:

“We’re simply delighted with the way it’s all fitted together,” he said.

“We’re particularly thrilled for all those involved in securing Bay Oval as New Zealand’s ninth test venue. A lot of people have worked hard for this recognition and I’m sure the venue will continue to go from strength to strength,” he added.
