Minnows in the cricketing world, Scotland has invested on young blood for their upcoming two-match T20I series against Pakistan. The squad will be same for the series against the Netherlands and Ireland.

It will follow the two-match T20I series against Pakistan. There is no doubt about the fact that Pakistan will start as favourites. However, Scotland has a few players who can surprise the Pakistan side with their all-round abilities.

They have included the uncapped left-arm spinner Hamza Tahir in their squad against Pakistan. Meanwhile wicket-keeper batsman, Craig Wallace also earned a recall. He played his last T20I in January 2017. Preston Mommsen has been called in for the one-off ODI against England. However, he got ignored for the two-match T20I series.

The inclusion of Tahir and Wallace in favour of Michael Jones and Mommsen are the only two changes for Scotland from the ODI squad which was announced for the one-off ODI against England on 10th June, Sunday.

The series is scheduled to begin on 12th June. Scotland will then travel to the Netherlands for the tri-series also involving Netherlands and Ireland.

Meanwhile, skipper of Scotland, Kyle Coetzer is quite eager for the challenge. He opines it is a huge opportunity for his side.

“This will be a huge occasion, not only for the playing squad but for the Cricket Scotland organisation as a whole. To be hosting the two number-one teams in 50-over and 20-over formats in a few days is not something that comes around every day,” Coetzer said.

“We need to make sure we are willing to soak up the special day and not be afraid to grab the game with our exciting, expressive style,” he added.
