Although Asaduddin has not played a single Ranji game, he recently found his name in Goa’s squad ahead of the premier domestic tournament in the country.

In a press-conference, Shadab Jakati lashed out at the inclusion on the basis of favouritism. He highlighted the fact that Asaduddin ages 28 and has not played a single Ranji game.

Just because he is the son of former India captain (Mohammad Azharuddin), who was a great player, does that automatically allow for his son to play for Goa?” he said on Friday.

“He (Asaduddin) is aged 28 and never played a single Ranji trophy match, nor even a first-class match. Even the last match he played for a state was in 2009, that too for Hyderabad Colts team in an invitational tournament. He tried to play for Uttar Pradesh, he tried various states, but he was not given a chance,” Jakati added.

Jakati also threw light on the incident that took place between him and Suraj Lotlikar.

Suraj was the president of Goa Cricket Association who forced Shadab to consider retirement. Lotlikar further asked Jakati to be not part of any IPL franchise after that.

“Suraj Lotlikar told me to consider retirement and told me to make way for junior cricketers. He even went to the extent of telling me that I will never be part of any IPL team this year.”

Shadab Jakati was a prominent left-hand spinner of Chennai Super Kings. He faced an axe during the pre-season camp of Goa apart from Swapnil Asnodkar who was also absent from the list.
