Pakistan fast bowler Shaheen Afridi has been all over the news and social media for all the wrong reasons. Recently, Pakistani Tik Tok star Hareem Shah had allegedly revealed an embarrassing video of the Pakistani cricketer doing some obscene stuff while on a video call with her. Later, it became clear that the video was posted through a fake Twitter profile. Hareem herself came out in public to state that she did not release the video.

However, Shaheen Afridi was roasted all over since the video showed him exposing himself. The youngster has now finally opened up on the issue saying that he tries to stay clear of the negative news that keeps on airing. He also said that he keeps his full focus on giving consistent performances to cement his spot in the national side. In light of the increasing competition of fast bowlers, Afridi’s entire concentration is on staying on top of the game to be in the reckoning for a regular spot in the playing eleven.

“Off the field, the negative news keeps on coming. I try not to pay any attention to it. Because there is competition [for places] in fast bowling, I tend to keep my focus on performance” Shaheen Afridi told Geo News.

The 19-year old had a sensational World Cup campaign this year but missed the series against Sri Lanka due to dengue fever before suffering a hamstring injury. He brushed aside any fitness concerns, mentioning that he has regained fitness by playing in a first-class game. He claimed that he had bowled a staggering 113 overs in a first-class fixture.

“I am now completely fit. I have also played a first-class match that improved my match fitness. Right now I have no fitness issues. To regain fitness I bowled 113 overs,” said the youngster.

Afridi will fly to Australia to link up with the national team, who started their tour with a T20 international on Sunday at Sydney. The left-arm pacer hasn’t been named in the format for the limited-overs leg and will fly down under to be part of the Test matches. The first of the two Test matches start from the 21st of November at Brisbane.
