One of the most celebrated cricketers in the world, Shahid Afridi celebrated his 38th birthday yesterday. The former Pakistan all-rounder has scalped more than 500 international wickets and scored 10,000-plus runs at a staggering strike-rate for his nation. Since making his debut, more than a couple of decades ago, Afridi established himself as a potential cog in the lineup and won numerous games for his country.

He is flamboyant and wears the heart on his sleeves. In an interview, Afridi said that he wants to play the final of the third edition of the Pakistan Super League in his adopted home Karachi, on March 25. Afridi said that he has no plans of making a comeback and is enjoying himself.

Afridi in no mood to make a comeback
“My decision to retire is final. I am now enjoying myself playing in these T20 leagues and doing my foundation work,” Afridi said in an interview.

A bitter-sweet end
The all-rounder announced his retirement from international cricket last year after having a strong feud with the cricket board. Afridi expected a farewell match but things didn’t go as per plan.”A cricketer can ask for nothing more. My fans still enjoy my performances and I love that and continue to play for them,” he said.
The veteran played a major role against friendly foes Lahore in the PSL game on Monday. “It is also important for me to carry on playing cricket for my foundation work.” he said. Afridi also had a word of appreciation for the head coach of the Karachi Kings and Pakistan team, Mickey Arthur.
